So as I write this, 2009 is drawing to a close – a mere day to go….and what a year it has been! I have come to the conclusion that time definitely seems to be speeding up with age…I could have sworn there was never a year between the last two Christmases. As a kid it never came round that fast – this year it was a mad dash just to finish the Christmas shopping – let alone get to the family festivities on-time! I’m half tempted to do next years shopping now for fear if I blink I might miss Christmas 2010!

Anyway, on the work side of things I have made the jump – I’ve done it – I’m now officially Freelance. After working for a facility for 3 & 1/2 years – and enjoying a great deal of my time there – the time has come to take the next step. This should allow me to maybe view the industry from a different perspective – after-all, you get incredibly involved and dare I say ‘blinkered’ when stuck in one place. Maybe ’stuck’ is the wrong word there, but you get the idea.  Personally, I’m very excited as we head into the New Year – So much to do, so many people to see. I’m really looking forward to the challenges, the people I’m due to work with and the possibilities 2010 holds. One step at a time James….don’t get too far ahead of yourself!

Amongst other things I need to prep for presenting at Broadcast Video Expo in February, write a ‘Best Man’ speech, enter the ‘Crumball Rally’ – and survive…..(don’t ask)….and attempt to fit a holiday in somewhere along the line. On the speech writing side of things I’m very honoured to have been asked to do this – thing is, I have a habit of coming out with unintentional comments at the most inappropriate times! Then again – maybe that could work in my favour in this particular situation….hmmm…we’ll see.

Right, I should probably get back to whatever I was doing before I sat down to write this….after-all, what with time speeding up the way it is, it’ll be 2010 before I finish typing this and I will have missed New Years celebrations….and we can’t have that!
